Aircraft Mechanic II
Y-Tech Services, Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II inElizabeth City, NC in anticipation of contract award.The Aircraft Mechanic I is responsible forthe following day to day duties:Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and establishedregulatory requirements.Maintain high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go processwhen executing maintenance duties. Perform rotating break room cleaning duties.Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs.Must maintain situational awareness, stay cognitive-focused, andmitigate risks.Comply with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense(DOD) documents and publications.Maintain and control tools. Report missing, lost, found, or unattendedtools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis andidentify when to replace worn or broken tools.Clean work area as necessary, assuring all flammable materials areproperly stored; handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance withapplicable laws and regulatory requirements.Comply with safety rules and procedures and perform work in a mannerthat enhances the safety of the work area. Promptly report accidents, injuries,safety, violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.Use Government computer system to access various technical referencesfor airframe repairs and Government training requirements.Provide satisfactory customer service.Perform afull range of airframe and engine maintenance, repairs, modifications,inspections and servicing of aircraft in accordance with approved methods,techniques and practices and certifies accomplished work.Troubleshootmalfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls,anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, ventilation, andheating systems.Repair,replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components includingrigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units, using hand tools,power tools, machines, equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, weldingequipment, rivet gun, and drills.Troubleshootengines and systems and use Federal Supply systems.Read andinterpret all aircraft instruments.Replace orrepair worn or damaged components, such as alternators, fuel controls, fuelpumps, oil pumps, engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves usinghand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.Removeengines and gearboxes from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck.Disassembleand inspect airframe and other components for wear, cracks, security, or otherdefects. Repair or replace defective parts then reassemble and install inaircraft.Performpreflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.Perform miscellaneousduties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens andfilters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.Performjacking and towing of aircraft.Enter in themaintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work wasperformed satisfactorily.Serviceengines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short ofoverhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.Use specialtest equipment and tools.Research thetechnical library and other applicable technical documentation (such asmanufacturers' and DHS/DOD maintenance manuals, service bulletins, engineeringand technical data) to determine feasibility and method of repairing orreplacing malfunctioning or damaged components.Performprogressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendarinspections.Examineengines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks.Listen tooperating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burntvalves. Inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, FOD, burnedareas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.Inspect jetengine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out,security, or breaks. Tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such asignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jetcalibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction.Perform fullsystem checkouts on all aircraft systems.Performcomplete servicing of aircraft.Perform a full range of aircraft maintenance, repairs, modifications,inspections and servicing of aircraft power plants (hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel,engines, lubrication) in accordance with approved methods, techniques,practices, and certifies accomplished work.Act as technical authority over Aircraft Mechanic I Contractor employeesand provide oversight of all lower grade mechanics.Perform sheet-metal fabrication and possess a working knowledge ofcommunications and aviation electronics.Read blueprints, use Ground Support Equipment (GSE), jacks, external andinternal power units, lifts, measuring devices, micrometers and calipers, powertools (including shears, brake, drill press, and pneumatic riveters) and otherspecialized tools.Provide oversight of Aircraft Mechanic Helpers and Aircraft Workers.
High School diploma or equivalent and possess an Aviation TechnicalSchool Certificate or, DOD Aircraft School Certificate, or A&P License or,Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology.Four (8) years of documented experience performing aircraft maintenanceon DHS/DOD H-60 Rotary-wing aircraft.Must be capable of performing tasks that frequently require: lifting,reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping,kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time. Must be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strainedpositions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, andaircraft structures. Must be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier itemsmust seek assistance of other workers or weight lifting devices. Must be capable of wearing cumbersome PPE for Hazardous Material(HAZMAT) operations.
