Tropic Helicopters operates Hughes 500 C & D models engaged in fish spotting roles in the Western Pacific Ocean region. It is an Approved Maintenance Authority and has a maintenance and operations facility at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands, with a satellite maintenance facility at Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia. All aspects of maintenance are carried out, including airframe repair, avionics, engine shop, component overhaul and general servicing sections. The helicopters operate aboard deep sea fishing vessels operating in the Western Pacific Fisheries area. Each boat has a helicopter with a pilot and a mechanic with it on board. Positions currently available or becoming available are: -SEAGOING POSITIONS.Positions for mechanics aboard the vessels become available at regular intervals. Seagoing aircrew are fully accommodated aboard the vessels.

Must be familiar with all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements for Hughes 500, including track and balance. The mechanics must be familiar with all aspects of corrosion prevention in an adverse marine environment. Mechanics are required to be assessed hands on by the company#8217;s Engineering Training Officer to determine their suitability to maintain a Hughes 500 in a marine environment. Selected rotary wing mechanics without Hughes 500 experience may be considered for acceptance into the company#8217;s training scheme.APPLICATIONSAll applicants should provide full details of their experience, and the current contact information of referees.
