Engine Technician - Makila

Assists the Engine Workshop Supervisor to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and performs intermediate maintenance inspections, services, and repairs on all assigned aircraft turbine engines and components. Will also be responsible to:

  • Services, repairs and overhauls turbine engines on rotary wing aircrafts to ensure airworthiness, in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
  • Examines engines and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Tests engine operation, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction.
  • Removes, replaces, services, prepares, preserves, cleans, and stores engine assembles or components.
  • Uses and performs user maintenance on common and special tools.
  • Disassembles and inspects systems, subsystems, and components of engines for wear, warping, or other defects. Inspects turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks.
  • Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components of engines using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
  • Assembles, adjusts, and diagnoses turbine engine systems, subsystems, and components according to applicable manuals and directive.
  • Solders, lugs, routes, ties, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and accessories of the aircraft engines.
  • Connects auxiliary component parts, wiring, cables, lines, and accessory units to engines, fits, trims, aligns, and adjusts parts and components according to blueprints and assembly procedures, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Tests installed parts and accessories of engines for leakage, continuity, and functionality, using test equipment.
  • May remove engines from crates or packing containers.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Requisitions aircraft engines parts and maintains shop and bench stock for repair the aircraft engines and their components.
  • Inspects and prepares forms and records related to maintenance in accordance with Repair Manual.
  • Trains host national personnel on the proper maintenance of engines and their components.
  • Must be willing to travel or relocate to Forward Operating Bases (FOB) in support of the aircraft maintenance program. Participate in maintenance test flights as required.
  • Responsible for tools and equipment inventory assigned by the supervisor.
  • To be able to diagnose and solve complex mechanical problems.
  • Stands for prolonged periods of time and be able to lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.

    • High school graduate or equivalent. Must have current and valid documentation showing type training or a completion of a formal turbine engine training course from an accredited military or civilian aeronautical school.
    • Military training school graduated preferred but not required.
    • Must have a minimum 5 years working experience with relevant engines.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of and experience with common tools, special tools, hardware and equipment used in the maintenance of aircraft turbine engines and components.
